So more people can experience life with God.

Community Groups

“God created us with a hunger for relationship— for relationship with Him and with our fellow people. At our very core we are relational beings. The soul cannot prosper without being connected to others.”
–Henry Cloud

What are they? Community groups are where we have the opportunity to love, care, serve, pray, and live life together with God in the context of meaningful relationships.

What are my options? If it is your first time to join a community group, a seasonal group is probably the best option because it is new for everyone in that group.

Seasonal Groups
Ongoing Groups
How long? Two separate 4 month seasons (Fall and Spring) Year round (with Christmas and Summer breaks)
How are they different? Breadth of relationships
Variety in leadership
Opportunity to form new relationships
Short term commitment
Depth in relationships
Longer term commitment
Consistency in leadership and relationships
How are they the same? Christ-centered Community is the priority
Different kinds of groups in both types (life phase, by location, etc.)
Fun and fellowship are involved
Solid topical content/Bible Study is offered
Both meet 2x per month
Both have 4-6 family units
Why should I be in a group?  Being a part of a community group creates space for…

  • Deeper connection with Hillsiders
  • Mutual encouragement in our walk with Christ
  • Opportunity to invest in what God is doing in people around us
  • Great context to engage people around us, live outward, and serve our community together
  • Enjoying life with God together

…and the ramifications go far beyond ourselves. Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” John 13:34-35.

So how do I get involved?
